I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Ashley Day at Everwell Chiropractic for the care she provided me during one of the most difficult periods of my life.
In December 2025, I suffered a severe injury where I dislocated my tailbone at a 90-degree inward angle. Since then, my daily life—as both a mother and a healthcare professional—has been significantly impacted. Simple activities like sitting, standing, or functioning normally became nearly impossible due to constant, intense pain.
I pursued multiple avenues for relief, including medications, pain management consultations, epidural injections, and nerve blocks. I also continued regular chiropractic care near my home. However, due to licensing limitations in my state, internal adjustments were not an option locally. My chiropractor recommended I consider this less common but highly effective treatment approach, which ultimately led me to Dr. Day.
From the moment I connected with her, she went above and beyond. She was accommodating of my travel limitations, incredibly compassionate, and took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure so I felt as comfortable as possible.
The internal adjustment itself was very brief—about 60 seconds—and far less uncomfortable than I anticipated, especially compared to the pain I had been living with. Immediately afterward, she had me do a “sit test,” and for the first time in five months, I was able to sit back without the sharp, stabbing pain I had been experiencing. I could also stand without the same intense pressure.
The emotional toll of this kind of chronic pain is difficult to put into words. It’s exhausting and disheartening. What Dr. Day provided wasn’t just physical relief—it gave me hope.
I’ve now had two treatments and have experienced meaningful improvement. I truly believe in this procedure and its effectiveness. For anyone facing similar pain and considering more invasive options like surgery, I strongly encourage exploring this route first. Surgical outcomes can be unpredictable and come with significant risks and recovery challenges.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have found a provider who not only has the skill to perform this treatment, but also the compassion to truly listen and care. My hope is that sharing my experience helps someone else who may be struggling to find relief.
"After suffering from coccydynia for two years, l flew across the country (from CA to WI) to seek specialized care from Dr. Ashley Day. Before seeing her, I could barely sit for more than 20-30 minutes without significant pain. I had been told that internal adjustments were the only real way to find relief, yet very few providers actually perform them. The trip was well worth it-Dr. Day is by far the best chiropractor I've been to in the U.S. She is incredibly supportive, patient, and explained the entire procedure to me fully. After just one session, I felt immediate relief and can finally sit comfortably again!"
”…but I just had to tell you that for the first time in 5 months my pain is at a ZERO reclining on the couch! You are amazing and I’m so grateful for you!“
During your consultation, Dr. Ashley will thoroughly assess your condition, discuss your health history, and determine if internal coccyx manipulation is the right treatment for you. This includes a careful examination of your spinal and pelvic alignment to identify areas of tension or misalignment. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about how this unique approach can help you find relief and improve your quality of life.
Internal coccyx manipulation is a highly effective technique for relieving chronic tailbone pain and pelvic discomfort that may not respond to traditional treatments. This technique involves a gentle, non-invasive adjustment of the coccyx to improve alignment and reduce inflammation, addressing the root cause of pain. It’s particularly beneficial for those experiencing persistent discomfort from previous injuries, childbirth, or pelvic floor dysfunction.
Every patient’s needs are unique, which is why our coccyx care approach is personalized to your specific condition. After your initial consultation, Dr. Ashley will develop a customized treatment plan to ensure your comfort, speed recovery, and address the underlying causes of your pain. The goal is to provide lasting relief and restore full function, allowing you to live a more active, pain-free life.

Tailbone pain, also known as coccydynia, can result from falls, childbirth, prolonged sitting, direct trauma, poor biomechanics, pelvic floor dysfunction, or irritation of the joints and ligaments surrounding the coccyx.
Yes! Depending on the cause of the pain, chiropractic treatment may include adjustments, soft tissue therapy, mobility exercises, pelvic stabilization strategies, and recommendations to reduce irritation during daily activities.
An internal coccyx mobilization is a gentle manual technique used to evaluate and improve the movement of the tailbone (coccyx) when external treatment alone may not be sufficient. In select cases, the coccyx can become restricted, misaligned, or irritated following trauma, childbirth, or prolonged sitting. Through eight months of training and hands-on clinical experience in Minnesota, Dr. Ashley developed advanced skills in coccyx care and is pleased to offer this specialized service to patients in Wisconsin.
No. Some tailbone conditions can be evaluated and treated without internal treatment. If an internal coccyx mobilization may be beneficial, the procedure, risks, benefits, and alternatives will be discussed thoroughly beforehand, and patient consent is always required.
If tailbone pain has lasted more than a few weeks, interferes with sitting, exercise, work, driving, or daily activities, or developed after an injury or childbirth, an evaluation can help determine the underlying cause and the most appropriate treatment options.
Patients typically describe this procedure as pressure or mild discomfort rather than pain, often followed by a sense of relief. Following the procedure, a seated reassessment ('sit test') is performed to evaluate changes in symptoms, sitting tolerance, and coccyx mobility. Manipulation takes roughly 30 - 60 seconds.
